The HALANSM 220977​ is the PM125-dedicated retaining cap​ that locks the front-end stack (electrode → swirl → nozzle → shield) into the Powermax125 SL100 / Duramax Hyamp 180 torch. Rated 45–125A, it seats against the shield (220976 mechanized / 220992 drag on PM125) and threads onto the torch body 428147.

Retaining Cap 220977 For Hypertherm Powermax 125 (45–125A) Plasma Cutting Torch

The retaining cap is the "lock nut" at the front of the torch head. Its job: clamp electrode + swirl + nozzle + shield into square alignment so the arc stays centered and the nozzle face doesn't get blasted by molten-back.


Key Points (buyer-facing)

  • PM125-Only Geometry: 220977 is the Powermax125 / Duramax Hyamp 180 cap. Thread pitch and seat land differ from PM105's 220854 (hand) / 220953 (Ohmic mech). Even though they lookclose, cross-mounting breaks the seal.

  • 45–125A Span: One cap covers the full PM125 amperage range (drag 65A through Hyamp 125A), so you don't stock multiple caps per amp tier on PM125.
