The HALANSM® 220764 Shield is a critical protective component in the Hypertherm HPR plasma cutting torch consumable stack. Positioned at the very bottom, it acts as the first line of defense against molten metal spatter and ensures optimal cooling for the nozzle above.

During high-amperage plasma cutting, intense heat and sparks are generated. The shield's primary function is to protect the nozzle (220439) and swirl ring (220436) from this thermal damage and spatter buildup. A damaged or warped shield can lead to poor arc focus, increased dross, and premature failure of the entire consumable set.
