High-purity copper body with precision-machined hafnium emitter tip , engineered as the electrical starting point of the plasma arc . 220435 is Hypertherm's 260A mild steel electrode for the HPR plasma torch family. High-purity copper body with precision-machined hafnium emitter tip , it is the starting point and electrical contact point of the plasma arc . At 260A, the demands on the electrode are the most extreme in the entire HPR amperage range short of 400A: maximum thermal load, continuous high-current conduction, and relentless hafnium erosion. This is why material purity and tip concentricity are absolutely non-negotiable — a poorly constructed electrode will fail within minutes, taking the expensive nozzle down with it.

NOT a SilverPlus electrode: 220435 is the standard copper electrode with hafnium tip. For 80–100% longer life, Hypertherm's SilverPlus version is 220668 . HALANSM 220435 is engineered to SilverPlus-grade geometries and tolerances, delivering near-SilverPlus performance at standard-electrode pricing.
Hafnium emitter tip must be perfectly concentric: The HALANSM 220435 is CNC-machined to ensure the hafnium emitter is perfectly centered in the copper body . Off-center tips cause arc wander, double-arcing, and rapid nozzle (220439) wear. At 260A, this failure mode is accelerated — a bad electrode can destroy a $23 nozzle in under an hour.
260A-only: 220435 is rated 260A mild steel. Running it at 400A will cause catastrophic hafnium failure. Correct electrodes by amp: 200A = 220352, 400A = 220629 (SilverPlus 220668 is the 260A SilverPlus equivalent).
Change as a set: Per Hypertherm's guidance, HPR consumables interact synergistically — replace electrode + swirl + nozzle + retaining cap + shield + shield cap together for peak cut quality and life. A worn 220435 electrode will destroy a brand-new 220439 nozzle within minutes.
NOTE: 220435 = 260A MS electrode. Primary fit: HPR260/HPR260XD/HPR400XD/HPR800XD. SilverPlus equivalent = 220668. 260A MS shield cap = 220637. HALANSM 220435 is an aftermarket compatible replacement, not Hypertherm OEM.
