Threads lock shield (020688 @40A / 020448 @100A / 020424 @200A) to the torch head and seat the inner stack (elec/swirl/noz) concentric. 1208xx MAX200 machine family, not cross-compatible with MAXPRO200 (different thread) or HT2000 HySpeed. Retaining Cap 120837 / 40-200A Universal Machine Cap for Hypertherm MAX200 – HALANSM
The MAX200 machine torch uses one retaining cap (120837) across all three amperages — 40A, 100A, and 200A. Shields and nozzles swap by amp (40A = 020688 / 100A = 020448 / 200A = 020424), but the cap stays the same. That is a storeroom advantage over Powermax families, where retaining caps often split by amperage. 120837 is copper alloy, machine-torch only — do not substitute with the MAX200 handheld graphite cap (020423), which has different threads, seat, and material.

Machine vs handheld don't mix: MAX200 handheld 40A uses graphite cap 020423 (different thread/seat/material). 120837 is copper, machine barrel only — forcing 120837 onto a handheld barrel strips threads; forcing 020423 onto machine barrel leaves the stack unseated.
1208xx MAX200 machine ≠ MAXPRO200 ≠ HT2000 HySpeed 200A: Three different 200A-class hosts, three different cap threads. MAXPRO200 cap won't seat on MAX200; HT2000 HySpeed 200A cap is a different line entirely (thread/swirl seat differ). Verify host reads "MAX200" before ordering 120837.
NOTE: For MAX200 machine gouging (200A), shield switches to 020485, nozzle to 020615, cap remains 120837. For MAX200 bevel (200A O₂), shield 120260 + nozzle 120259 + elec 120258 + swirl 120833, cap still 120837. MAX200 handheld 40A (020423 graphite cap + 020688 shield + 020689 noz + 120547 elec + 020613 swirl) is a separate stack — do not intermix machine/handheld caps or shields.
