The HALANSM 020448​ is the 100A machine shield for Hypertherm MAX200, covering both Air and O₂ cutting on mild/stainless steel at 100A. Threads mate with 120837 copper retaining cap (universal 40/100/200A on MAX200 machine), inner seat aligns swirl + noz + elec. 1208xx/020x MAX200 machine family, not cross-compatible with MAXPRO200 (different thread) or HT2000 HySpeed 200A. Not the same as MAX200 handheld line​ — handheld 40A uses graphite cap 020423 + same 020688 shield number but different cap/shield seat; 020448 is machine only.

MAX200 machine torch runs three shields by amperage: 40A = 020688 / 100A = 020448 / 200A = 020424. 020448 covers both Air and O₂ at 100A — same shield body, swirl + nozzle split by gas, electrode shared (120547 Hafnium), retaining cap shared (120837 copper, universal 40/100/200A).

Key Points (buyer-facing)

  • Same shield for Air and O₂: At 100A, shield does not split by gas — swap swirl + nozzle only (Air: 020607 + 020611; O₂: 020617 + 020616). Shield and cap stay put. Stores carry one 020448 SKU + one 120837 cap SKU to cover 100A dual-gas.

  • Machine vs handheld do not intermix: 020448 is a machine shield, copper, mates with 120837 copper cap. MAX200 handheld (40A only) runs graphite cap 020423 + 020688 shield — different thread, seat, and material. Forcing machine/handheld parts together = gas leak + arc wander.

  • 120837 cap is amp-shared across machine line: MAX200 machine uses one copper cap (120837) for 40/100/200A — shields swap by amp, cap does not. Fewer SKUs in stores than Powermax families where caps often split by amperage.

  • 1208xx/020x MAX200 machine ≠ MAXPRO200 ≠ HT2000 HySpeed 200A: Three different 200A-class hosts, three different cap threads and swirl seats. 020448 seats only on MAX200 machine barrel; MAXPRO200 shield is 2200xx-line, HT2000 HySpeed is another family entirely.

NOTE: MAX200 200A machine shield = 020424 (next tier, Air/O₂/underwater); gouging @200A switches to 020485 shield + 020615 nozzle; bevel @200A O₂ switches to 120260 shield + 120259 nozzle + 120258 elec + 120833 swirl — all use the same 120837 cap. MAX200 handheld 40A = separate stack (020423 graphite cap + 020688 shield + 020689 nozzle + 120547 elec + 020613 swirl), do not cross with machine stack.
