The HALANSM 220672​ is the gouging nozzle for Hypertherm Powermax 45 / 45A hand torch, 15-45A carbon arc gouging tier. Bore and wall are reinforced vs standard cutting nozzle 220671 to withstand the high thermal load and arc deflection of gouging — weld prep, defect removal, back-gouge. Must pair with gouging shield 220675; using standard shield 220674 will cause arc instability and premature failure. 2208xx family, thread/seat ≠ HSD130 45A (2205xx).

Powermax 45/45A hand torch covers two modes — drag cutting (220671) and gouging (220672). 220672 is the gouging tip: reinforced wall and bore vs 220671 to survive the high thermal load and arc deflection of carbon arc gouging — weld prep grooves, defect removal, back-gouge on structural steel.

Key Points (buyer-facing)

  • Reinforced gouging bore: Wall thicker and exit angle tuned vs 220671 (cutting) to handle gouging's high gas flow + arc deflection. Running 220671 for gouging = rapid tip failure.

  • 220675 gouge shield mandatory: 220672 on standard shield 220674 = arc won't confine, dross heavy, consumable life trashed. Gouging stack must be full set: 220669 + 220670 + 220672 + 220675.

  • 220669 Ag electrode recommended: Gouging runs hotter than cutting — 220669 silver core lasts longer than 220478 copper in this duty. If your shop stocks both elec types, label them clearly (220669 for gouging, 220478 for light cutting / Powermax 30).

  • 2208xx only: Powermax 45/45A/45XP consumable family. HSD130 45A runs 2205xx (220525/220528 etc.) — thread, seat, swirl land all differ. Forcing 220672 onto HSD130 = gas leak + burnt cap.

NOTE: For cutting mode on same Powermax 45/45A torch, switch to 220671 nozzle + 220674 shield. Do not run gouging nozzle 220672 for cutting — bore profile wrong, waste of tip.
