The HALANSM® 220936 is the outer shield cap of the Hypertherm consumable stack — the single part that locks the shield cup to the torch barrel while the inner 220935 retaining cap locks the electrode, swirl ring, and nozzle from the torch-head side . One 220936 services four different torch hosts — HSD130, HyPro2000 installed on legacy MAX200, native MAXPRO200, and HT2000 — across 50A, 130A, and 200A by swapping only the shield cup (220532 / 220620 / 220627) .

Why 220936 is not interchangeable with 220935 — or with MAX200 standard caps

The 220936's defining feature is the integrated ohmic / inductive height-sense (IHS) tab. The moment the torch touches the plate, the tab completes the sensing circuit and tells the CNC exactly where Z-zero is, so pierce height is set automatically . Fit a tabless 220935 on a sensing torch and you lose that signal entirely. Conversely, the 220936 is not the same as the plain MAX200 standard caps (020423 graphite handheld / 120837 copper machine) — threads and seat geometry differ, and forcing HyPro caps onto a non-HyPro MAX200 barrel causes thread galling, gas leaks, and arc wander .
