220194 is Hypertherm's 30A mild steel shield for the HPR plasma torch family. Copper-alloy body with precision-machined bore, seated between the nozzle retaining cap (220754) and the shield cap (220173 on HPR130/260-class machines, 220747 on HPRXD-class machines). Its job: protect the inner consumable stack from molten spatter and maintain the laminar gas shroud around the 220193 nozzle for a stable, focused arc and clean cut edge.

30A MS shield, one part number crosses all HPR machines: 220194 fits HPR130, HPR260, HPR130XD, HPR260XD, HPR400XD, HD3070, HD4070 identically . Only the shield cap on top differs by machine class (220173 vs 220747) — the shield itself is the same.
NOT a shield cap: 220194 is the shield (mid-stack protective sleeve around the nozzle). The shield cap that screws on top is 220173 (HPR130/260-class) or 220747 (HPRXD-class). Do not confuse the two when ordering — both are required for a complete 30A stack.
30A-only: 220194 is rated 30A mild steel. Running it at 50A/80A/130A will cause premature shield blow-out and arc instability. Correct shields by amp: 50A = 220555, 80A = 220189, 130A = 220183, 200A = 220356 (HPR260-class) / 220761 (HPRXD), 260A = 220440 (HPR260-class) / 220764 (HPRXD), 400A = 220636 (HPRXD) .
Change as a set: Per Hypertherm's own guidance, HPR consumables interact synergistically — always replace electrode + swirl + nozzle + retaining cap + shield + shield cap together for peak cut quality and life .
NOTE: 220194 = 30A MS shield. Shield cap pairing: HPR130/260-class → 220173; HPRXD-class (HPR130XD/HPR260XD/HPR400XD) → 220747. The 30A stack is identical across all HPR machines except the shield cap number. HALANSM 220194 is an aftermarket compatible replacement, not Hypertherm OEM.
